Keeping It In Perspective

I was going to write a short note to introduce and give my own opinion and insight on this next blog (because if you know me, you know I have an opinion and insight on "everything") =)  But after reading the original blog from Style Me Pretty, I realized there's nothing I could say to make it any more beautiful and meaningful.  If you are in the midst of planning your own wedding, take a second to read THIS and put things into perspective.....

Where to Start? Make Your Wedding Unique to YOU as a COUPLE!!

We have been doing lots of tours and first planning appointments at The Pinery.  I often get asked “What has been your favorite wedding?”   My answer is the weddings that really reflect the Bride and Groom.    Little details that pin point interests they have individually or together.   A great example is a wedding we had in November of 2010 – The thank you card we received reads “Every one of our family, friends and guests were blown away at this wedding.  With your help, we succeeded and brought Hawaii to Black Forest.”  The Hawaii wedding included Birds of Paradise, Hula Dancers, Grilled Pineapple, Huli Huli Chicken and Kalua Smoked Pig.  This past wedding season brought a VW Bus, an old typewriter and all the great candies you would find at a baseball game.  Remember the packets of gum that came in a Red Man Pouch and the candy cigarettes.  The VW bus gave the wedding a fabulous 60's vintage feel.

My thoughts for newly engaged brides are to “Brainstorm”.  I remember back in junior high school when working on a project the teacher ask us to put all our ideas down on a piece of paper.  She then asked us to find reoccurring themes and ideas and to expand upon them.  Pinterest is the modern “brainstorm”.  Pinterest is wonderful for pulling lots of ideas together.   Incorporate the ones that make your wedding day unique to you as a couple.

Calling All Colorado Springs Brides!

The knot.com, weddingwire, and other wedding planning sites are great and extreamly useful.  But when it's time to get down to the nitty gritty of your event, it's helpful to find a website or blog specific to your area.  I stumbled upon Modishwed.com this afternoon and thought I would share it with everyone.

Color the Rainbow!

I just wanted to post a quick entry late at night because I can't hide this little gem any longer.  I've acutally shared it with a few personal friends planning their own weddings in the last few days.  If you're like me, choosing a color palette can be a little overwhelming.  Most people know that adding different "hues" of colors adds more depth to whatever color scheme you choose but actually choosing those" hues" and knowing what complements them or even what they're called can get overwhelming.  "Will adding this color change the feel?", "Does this color clash with this color?" " Will green take away the rustic feel I want?" The back and forth roller coaster your brian takes you on can be exhausting and if you arn't able to afford a professional to come up with a color palette for you, then I think you will really enjoy this website!  I'm happy to introduce: The Perfect Palette!

What makes this sight so great?  You can pick the color you know you want and it will take you to mulitple different inspiration boards that the designer has created using your color. Not only are you getting a fully designed color scheme but you're also getting an inspiration board that shows you how the multiple colors play together and the "feel" that it creates!  Not finding what you want?  You can actually email the designer with your ideas, theme, where you think you're headed and she will customize a color scheme for you! WOW!  Enjoy all of the fun possibilities....
